1. Introduction
LATITUDE 235 IT (PTY) LTD ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal information when you use our API and related services ("Service"). We comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa.
2. Information we collect
When you register and use the Service we collect:
- Name and email address provided during signup
- Password (stored as a one-way cryptographic hash — we cannot see your password)
- API usage data — number of calls made, endpoints accessed, timestamps
- Payment information processed by PayFast (we do not store card details)
- IP addresses and browser information for security purposes
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the Service
- Process payments and manage your subscription
- Send important account notifications including password reset emails
- Monitor and enforce API usage limits
- Detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive use of the Service
- Improve and develop new features
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for unsolicited marketing without your consent.
4. Data storage
Your data is stored in Amazon Web Services (AWS) DynamoDB databases located in the Africa (Cape Town) region. AWS maintains appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your data. We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account your personal data will be removed within 30 days.
5. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud infrastructure and data storage
- PayFast — payment processing. PayFast has its own privacy policy governing how they handle payment data
- Amazon SES — email delivery for account notifications
6. API data
Phone numbers, SWIFT codes and other data submitted to the API for validation are processed in real time and are not stored or logged beyond what is necessary for usage tracking. We log the endpoint called and timestamp but not the specific phone numbers or SWIFT codes you validate.
7. Your rights under POPIA
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Object to the processing of your personal information

8. Security
We take security seriously. Passwords are hashed using SHA-256 and never stored in plain text. API keys are randomly generated and unique to each user. All API communication is encrypted using HTTPS. We recommend that you keep your API key confidential and regenerate it if you believe it has been compromised.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
